“I know what I’m doing. I have it all planned out—plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for.  When you call on me, when you come and pray to me, I’ll listen.  When you come looking for me, you’ll find me. Yes, when you get serious about finding me and want it more than anything else, I’ll make sure you won’t be disappointed.” God’s Decree.   Jeremiah 29:11 – 14  (The Message)

Maybe you have never read this passage of Scripture before, or if you have, you haven’t seen it in The Message!  It caught my attention for a couple of reasons today.  First of all, just being real and raw, do we really think that God has a future and a hope for us on a Monday?  You might think that a possibility later in the week, but let’s be honest, most of us wake up wishing there was a special day between the weekend and the start of the week. What could we name it?  Maybe Funday!  Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Funday, and then Monday!  Check with your congressman, start a petition.  I think its worth pursuing!  Probably not!  But you know what is worth pursuing?  God!  The future you seek and the possibilities you hope become realities don’t hinge on whether we could add more time to our calendar, but more importantly on what we do with the time our calendar already gives us.  That’s why this version of these verses caught my attention!  “When you get serious about finding me, and want it more than anything else, I’ll make sure you won’t be disappointed.”   “AHHHHH! ” That’s me agonizing over how much time I waste pursuing my future rather than God, and then I get frustrated at HIM because the results are disappointing. Ever been there?  So, with nearly two and half months left to go in 2015, what if we determined to make the rest of the year, the best of the year!  Let’s seek Him first, wholeheartedly.  Let’s pursue His righteousness in our lives.  He promises that when we do, we won’t be disappointed with the results!
